Your May New Wave Check-In

Fine Doesn’t Mean Finished, It Means It’s Time.

Your Monthly Ripple

Hey!

May has this quiet permission to it. The new year urgency has worn off. Summer isn’t quite here. It’s a shoulder month, and honestly, that’s where the real work happens. Most people come in when something’s wrong. Fewer come in when things are fine. But fine is exactly the right time. Your nervous system has capacity to integrate. Your body can actually hold the adjustments. Fine is when maintenance becomes momentum.

We’re leaning into that this month. The unremarkable Wednesday appointment that quietly keeps everything else on track. We hope you’ll join us there.

Your mid-back has been holding a lot. Give it 90 seconds to finally let go.

May at New Wave

Gift of Care — for the mother in your life
If there’s a mom in your world who’s been carrying a lot and putting herself last (so, every mom), this is the month to send her in. Gift of Care certificates are available all month long. It’s a real visit with real attention, not a gift card to a spa she’ll never book. She can call or text us, or you can reply to this email and we’ll sort it out.

Father’s Day Event— Dads & Drills
We’re celebrating the dads in our New Wave community with a free appreciation event. Expect friendly competition across four challenge stations, good food, a raffle with prizes worth showing up for, and zero agenda. Families are fully welcome & and if you bring someone who’s never been to New Wave, their first visit is on us. Date to be announced soon!

What We’re Loving Right Now

Eating lunch sitting down

Radical concept, we know. But if you’re inhaling food standing over the counter at 1pm, your nervous system is not in a state to digest, physically or otherwise. Five minutes of actual stillness mid-day does more than people expect.

Morning sunlight before your phone

Ten minutes outside before you open anything. No agenda, no content. Just light and a little quiet. We keep recommending this to patients and keep getting “okay fine, it actually works” back from them.

The chaos is the season.

We just moved — two toddlers, boxes everywhere, zero routines intact — and somewhere in the middle of it we stopped trying to hold everything together perfectly and just… let it be messy for a minute. Turns out your nervous system doesn’t need a perfect environment to function. It needs permission to stop bracing. If your life is loud and upended right now, you’re not behind. You’re just in it. The reset comes after, and it always does. We’re here for it.

Doctor’s Corner

What I actually wanted for Mother’s Day.

Every May there’s a wave of content about honoring mothers. And every May I watch those same mothers sit across from me and list everything they haven’t addressed since their last pregnancy. The hip that never felt right. The tension headaches that came back after baby two and just… stayed. The fatigue they’ve accepted as the baseline.

We don’t need more appreciation posts. We need people asking: what does she need that she hasn’t asked for?

The mothers I work with are extraordinary at taking care of everyone else. They are genuinely bad at receiving it.

So if you’re a mom reading this, you don’t need a reason. And if you love one…this is your nudge.

With hugs,
Dr. Arielle
